3D Printing in SLS Nylon

 

3D Printing in our Nylon material gives you our largest build option in a durable material with good temperature resistance and low conductivity.

Another addition to our 'Strong & Durable' 3d printing service, our Nylon based material 3D printed with the SLS process, gives you an ideal material where you need to build large designs.  Parts in Nylon PA materials have good temperature resistance and comparatively low build costs. Clients have tested the material for use in applications in close proximity to electrical conductors.


3D Printing in our Nylon material is via the Selective laser sintering (SLS) process where a powder layer is laser melted layer by layer with a laser. Each layer is typically 100 micron* thick and gives a slightly textured surface finish.  We recommend that wall thickness or features in your design should be in excess of 1 mm to ensure integrity and a reliable build.

Large Format Builds

Our Nylon 3D printed material sits in our 'Strong and Durable' service on account of parts being robust and having a good temperature resistance. Stand out properties include good temperature resistance and large build volume, up to 800mm.

We offer two versions of the Nylon material, PA2200 on our large format build volume and the glass filled PA3200 on a smaller machine.

Post build coatings are available to give water and oil resistance.

Excellent aesthetics in an 'off white' colour.

Fine individual details and wall thicknesses down to 1.0mm.

Oil and water resistance improved with optional post processing coatings.

Nylon (PA2200) :

  • SLS Nylon material built in 0.15mm layers for large format.
  • Temperature Resistance of 160^c. ( Vicat softening temperature )
  • Density 0.93 g/cm3
  • Tensile Modulus 1700 Mpa
  • Tensile Strength 48 Mpa
  • Elongation at Break 24%
  • Typical accuracy +/- 0.2mm depending on design, geometry and build orientation.
  • Build Area - 700 x 380 x 580mm
  • Supporting Powder support system ideal for complex internal structures.

 Nylon PA3200gf :

  • SLS Nylon material built in 0.1mm layers.
  • Temperature Resistance of 160^c. ( Vicat softening temperature )
  • Density 1.22 g/cm3
  • Tensile Modulus 3200 Mpa
  • Tensile Strength 51 Mpa
  • Elongation at Break 9%
  • Typical accuracy +/- 0.2mm depending on design, geometry and build orientation.
  • Build Area - 380 x 330 x 400mm
  • Powder support system ideal for complex internal structures.
