3D Printing Copper.
3D Printing in Copper. Strong & Durable Service.
3D print your designs in Copper using our DMLS \ SLM additive manufacturing service.
Copper 3D printed using the DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) or SLM process. A very fine metal alloy powder is melted with a laser to produce your design layer by layer. Once your design is complete any support structures are removed and any finishing completed. Unused powder is recycled for use on the next model.
3D Printing in Copper CuNi2SiCr, our default copper alloy, can work out more cost effective than traditional 'subtractive' or casting processes, especially where you have complex or intricate designs. Extra complexity does not add to the price of manufacture as it might with traditional manufacture.
Copper. CuNi2SiCr alloy
Our Copper alloy offers you a good combination of thermal and electrical conductivity along with good rigidity. These properties are maintained even at high temperatures.
CuNi2SiCr has good corrosion resistance and is hard wearing.
Conductivity: CuNi2SiCr is about 40% IACS after heat treatment.
Applications:
The combination of conductivity and wear properties makes our Copper alloy ideal for applications including electrical engineering, electrodes for use in high tempretures plus radio and signal processing,
Cooling inserts for tooling and cores and insets for moulds are other popular applications.
New Copper Alloys:
We've just added two new 3d printed copper alloys to our additive manufacturing service. These copper alloys available 'on demand', subject to an appropriate business case.
Copper. CuCP
3D Printing in CuCp, a high purity copper alloy giving 99.95% pure Copper. It gives excellent electrical and heat conductivity. Applications include: Electrical motors, Inductors and other electrical designs.
Copper. CuCr1Zr
3D printing in CuCr1Zr gives you a copper alloy which offers moderate to high conductivity in heat treated form combined with good mechanical properties. Applications include rocket engines, induction coils, heat exchangers and Space. This is a copper alloy which favours larger parts and simpler geometries. It requires a long heat treatment cycle which precludes small parts.
Indicative data sheets available on request.
The lead times for both new copper alloys are dependent on demand and business case. They are not available for prototyping.
